Lactose

Lactose is a di-saccharide consisting of glucose and galactose and is the kind of sugar which exists in milk. The concentration in milk varies between 3.6 - 5.5 %. The relative sweetness is 0,4.

Milk sugar or lactose is the main component in whey. Whey is a residue from milk, where you have removed the casein and most of the fat. Lactose can be produced from untreated as well as ultra filtered whey (pharma quality).

Is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a carrier in tablets.
