Trisodium citrate is supplied in granulated form. It is easily soluble in water. The solubility increases when temperature is increased. In a 5 % solution, the pH-value is approx. 8.
Trisodium citrate is the salt of citric acid. It is produced through the neutralizing of citric acid with the help of sodium hydroxide and a subsequent crystallization.
Trisodium citrate is the most common buffer salt for citric acid and is used in all types of food products. Another large application/use, is in slaughter houses, where it is used to prevent blood from coagulation. It is commonly known as "bloodsalt".
